History is on Thailand's side as they have not only defeated Dollah Salleh's men 3-2 in Singapore in the group stage last month, but also dismissed Malaysia in the 2012 semifinal. Kiatisuk -- who is looking to win the elite ASEAN competition as a coach to add to the three titles he won as a player -- has strong belief in his young side and insists they have improved over the course of tournament. "We want to win back the title to end a 12-year drought," he told Bankok Post. "We are only two matches away from regaining the title. We will train hard for the final. We have improved since the group stage. Our defence is stronger and so is our midfield."

Playmaker Chanathip Songkrasin credited the home fans for Thailand's excellent performance against the Azkals. The man nicknamed 'Messi Jay' by the adoring Thai public is hoping for a repeat performance against Malaysia. "The home leg of the semifinal was very special as it gave me the opportunity to play in front of more than 50,000 fans," the BEC Tero Sasana midfielder told the Thai language media. "Our recent performances have encouraged fans to return to watch us. I hope we can keep this going and continue to see crowds like this."

It would be interesting to see Kiatisuk's starting line-up for the first leg of the final. Striker Adisak Kraisorn, scorer of a brace in the Group B win over Malaysia, will be available for selection. Adisak was suspended for the second leg semifinal following his sending off in the first leg in Manila. But, after the team's vibrant midweek performance in Bangkok, it would be risky to tamper with a winning formula.
